Black Hawk Residents Happy About the Amendment 50 Changes

On January 13th, 2009, voters gave their go signal to Amendment 50, which will allow the casino facilities in Black Hawk to improve their maximum wagers from $5 to a more attractive $100 betting minimum, an opportunity to open for twenty-four hours and to add roulette and craps. The Black Hawk voters gave their approval to the Amendment 50 in a 54-6 victory.

The measure also approves the new provisions under the Amendment, which was approved by Colorado state voters during a vote on November 4th, 2008. Black Hawk is the 2nd of Colorado's gaming communities to decide on whether or not to use the proposals under the Amendment 50. Cripple Creek voters had already given their approval to the new betting limits, operations and casino games. The last of the three Colorado gaming towns, Central City will decide on the matter on January 20th, 2009.

A part of the new casino gaming revenue from the bigger limits, new casino games and longer gaming operations is earmarked for the state universities and community colleges. Gaming experts expects that the new games could raise as much as $300 million if all of the three towns will unanimously adopt the new changes. The new rules would be implemented on July 2nd, 2009.
