Colorado Casinos Prepares for the Changes that the Amendment 50 Will Bring to the State

The gaming industry in Colorado is preparing on January 15th, 2009 for the expected gaming growth that it is expected to face this summer even with the credit crunch and a lackluster year of revenue drop. This sense of optimism comes from the approval of Amendment 50, which allows the Colorado gambling towns of Cripple Creek, Black Hawk and Central City to decide for themselves on whether they are in favor of these changes that the state voters have approved.

A lot of people that are in favor of the Amendment said that it will be beneficial to the economy and not a big problem, unlike what the critics of the Amendment are saying. The co-proprietor of the Bronco's Billy's Casino in Cripple Creek, which permitted the Amendment 50 changes in a landslide vote on December 2008, Mr. Marc Murphy, said that the approval of the Amendment 50 will help their economy to remain resilient even in times of trouble because it will casinos to up the existing ante, open for 24 hours and add roulette and craps, two of the most in demand games in Las Vegas and Atlantic City casinos. Murphy said that they will need an additional 50-75 people to meet the additional demands.

Presently, the Bronco's Billy's casino employs around three hundred casino staff. Murphy added that they also plan to adopt the Amendment 50 changes as soon as it is allowed by the existing Colorado law. According to Mr. Don Burmania, the spokesman of the Colorado Division of Gaming said that the Amendment 50 states that the changes can only be adopted by interested casinos the day after July 1st, 2009, or in this case, July 2nd, 2009. At the moment, gaming halls are required to shut down their operations at two o'clock a.m. and can only offer their customers slot machines, poker and blackjack.

John East, the Vice President The Lodge and Gilpin casinos in Black Hawk are one of the numerous casinos that will adopt the changes of the Amendment 50. The Lodge will offer its customers a pair of craps table and a roulette table. Jacobs said that they need an additional forty casino dealers to meet the demands.

General Manager John Bo Hannon said that the Isle of Capri casino in Black Hawk also plans to adopt the changes as soon as it is permitted under the law. City Manager Lynette Hailey that the American Gaming Group is current constructing a casino hotel in Central City that will offer slots and a total of 44 hotel rooms. It will also offer 600 hundred parking spaces.
